In 1980, the company established Japan Indesco, which manages Exterior project design and construction, with emphasis on the patented Indesco method of patterning concrete surfaces. In 1981, the company established a subsidiary called EXIS, which handles sales and distribution of Exterior products and related items to home centers, DIY stores, and other retail chains. In 1985 they adopted "AIEX" as the new corporate name and logo, and also began to operate AIEX International division by 1988. The preparations for business in foreign countries in the 1990's began.
